Are you interested in going to work in the UAE? It is a popular work destination for many Canadian professionals and has seen an influx of workers in recent years. You probably already know that you need to receive a Work Visa before you can go to the country, but do you know about the other steps?

Today, we’ll discuss what you need to complete document-wise before you can leave for your new job in the UAE and why document attestation is so crucial.

Documents You Need Notarized

If you plan to work in the UAE and wish to apply for a work visa in the country, you must first have all of your applicable Canadian documents notarized before you can move onto the next stages of the process.

When going to the UAE for work, you’ll most likely need to present your college degrees and criminal record certificates notarized and authenticated. You will need to have them notarized by a certified public notary or a lawyer.

Document Authentication

After you have your Canadian documents notarized and have your notary certificate in hand, you can then move onto the second stage of the process. Now you’ll need to have your documents authenticated. This step is crucial, and you must have your documents authenticated before you can travel to the UAE or before you submit them for attestation at the UAE Embassy.

This step typically happens at Global Affairs Canada and must be taken care of before you travel. Although there is a Canadian Embassy in the UAE, they will often not authenticate documents there.

Documents that you might need to authenticate include:

  • Birth certificates
  • Marriage certificates
  • Degrees, Diplomas and Transcripts
  • Medical reports
  • Criminal record checks
  • And many more

Attestation at UAE Embassy in Canada

Now that you’ve completed all of the other steps, the last thing that you need to do is have your documents attested or legalized at the UAE Embassy in Canada. The UAE consulate will verify your records are correct, and if they don’t find any issues, they will provide their stamp and seal of approval, and you will be ready to apply for your work visa and travel.
